AN AUTHOR’S EVENING WITH HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR, DR. EVA OLSSON


Thursday, October 3 2019

Dr. Olsson, author of Unlocking the Doors: A Woman’s Struggle against Intolerance and Remembering Forever: A Journey of Darkness and Light, will present her work at The Village Square (1198 Vankoughnet Rd.) on Thursday, October 3 beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Following the presentation, there will be a Q & A period as well as refreshments.  Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author.  (Cost: $2.00 and donation)

In 1924, Olsson was born in Hungary into a poor family of Hassidic Jews.  She experienced several extermination camps including Auschwitz, but she and her sister managed to survive.

Since 1996, she has told her story more than 3,800 times in churches, colleges, universities, and schools.  Olsson continues to share her story across North America, educating and sensitizing future generations on the recurring themes of prejudice and racism.

Olsson has received several awards and recognition including honorary degrees, Peacemaker of the Year Award, and United Nations guest speaker.

SQUARE DANCE AT THE VILLAGE SQUARE
Square Dance will take place on May 24th between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. 
The cost will be $4.00 per adult and free for 14 and under. 
Instruction will be included, as well coffee, tea, and water. 
*Please bring your own refillable water bottle/glass* as well a small 
snack to share with others during the break. You will need shoes with slippery soles. 
(This activity is appropriate for all those eight years old and up.) 

We need to increase attendance at  the Dances In order for this programme to continue after May!

Susan will discuss and read aloud from the late Reverend Doctor Chris Vais’ journal in which he recounts his journey with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease)

Light refreshments will be served after the Q & A period

This event coincides with ALS Awareness Month in Canada
