2018 FLOOD WATCH

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER RECORD FLOOD?

With significant snow pack in the bush, frost still in the ground, and a winter that doesn't want to release it's hold on the region, we could be in for another record breaking flood season.   We are now half way through April (15th to be exact) and in the midst of a significant snow/ice storm.   The Black River water levels are currently reasonably low and have not started rising significantly.   To add perspective, the flood watch has regularly started at the end of March and water levels have often peaked mid April.   The later into spring we go, a much higher chance of sudden and sustained  temperature increases are possible, which could lead to a rapid melt.  Add some rain and water levels could rise fast.    So stay tuned for regular reports as things change through the next few weeks.
