April 3, 2023:

Ice Out   (It was one day earlier last year)

April 4, 2023:

First Day of water level monitoring.  As of 10am the water level was 8ft 5in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  (Interestingly  this is the exact same first report from last year. )

April 5, 2023:

As of 10am the water level was 8ft 3in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  up 2 inches in the last 24 hours.  Significant rain storm starting early this morning and continuing through the day is sure to speed up the rate of river rise over the next day or so.  A couple pics included.  Low Falls always impressive any time of year and McCutchen Bridge facing south.

April 6, 2023:

Significant level increase since yesterday.  As of 9am today the water level was 6ft 4in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  up almost 2 feet in the last 24 hours! Still well below flood levels, but the river continues to rise quickly.

April 7, 2023:

Happy Good Friday.  As of 9am today the water level was 5ft 3in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  up almost  a foot in the last 24 hours.  Due to some cool dry weather after the big rain on Wednesday the rate of rise has slowed.  The next few days look good as well.  The road should be clear for this Easter Weekend.

April 8, 2023:

As of 9am today the water level was 5ft 3in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  No change since yesterday at the same time.  The water line on the base of the bridge shows that the water did go up a few inches from yesterday to today, but then went back down by the morning.   The cool dry weather might bring it down further by tomorrow.

April 9, 2023:

Beautiful, crisp, clear Easter Sunday morning that started out at -8 degrees.  Warming to double digits by afternoon.   The cool dry weather over the last 24 hours has reversed the river level.  As of 8am today the water level was 5ft 10in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  That's a 7 inch decrease since yesterday morning. Picture #1:  Facing upstream above high falls.  Picture #2: A distinct water line on the base of the bridge shows where the water was before the decrease.

April 10, 2023:

Another beautiful, crisp, clear morning, warming to double digits by afternoon.    The water level continues to drop.  As of 9am today the water level was 6ft 5in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  A warm week ahead will speed up the melt, but it's looking sunny and dry so far.  Still lots of snow pack, so a spike in temperature combined with some rainy days could cause the river level to spike.  Fingers crossed.

April 11, 2023:

As of 11 am today the water level was 6ft 7 in below the deck of the McCutcheon bridge.  Another 2 in decrease.   This could be the end of the flood watch.  We will hold off posting daily levels unless the level rises significantly again.
