Post date: Jan 12, 2013 12:22:16 AM
Many community members came out to attend the meeting updating the status of the new McCutcheon bridge project. A delegation representing the town of Bracebridge attended and participated in the presentation. These members included
Andrew Stacey - Engineering Technologist
Barb McMurray - Oakley Ward Councillor
John Sisson - Chief Administrative Officer
Lori-Lynn Giaschi-Pacini - District Councillor
Steven Clement - District Councillor
Rick Maloney - Macaulay Ward Councillor and Deputy Mayor
Walt Schmid - Director of Public Works
(Left) Andrew Stacey- Engineering Technologist is holding one of the drawings he has worked on for this project.
Councillor McMurray stated that it was a positive meeting and
residents offered many good questions. McMurray also indicated that credit should be given to Andrew Stacey- Engineering Technologist, who worked very hard to get the new bridge proposal much closer to what residents wanted than the original town proposal.
The bridge plan changes include keeping it to one lane, eliminating the proposed pedestrian path, upgrading the deck from wood to asphalt and raising the rail height for safety.
An aesthetic proposal that was suggested by a community member was changing the rail to an arched vs a flat rail. The representatives indicated they would consider this proposal.
Note: the drawing was not delivered by Santa on Christmas day and put underneath the beautiful Christmas tree seen in the background!

All the architectural drawings displayed at the presentation will be posted and available for viewing at the Village Square.
